How inbox coverage works
Connect Gmail.
Google grants read access to your inbox. Finmonk will process supported financial emails. Automatic receipt capture is a separate upcoming step.
Reconnection reminders
During Google’s testing phase, reconnect about every seven days. Enable notifications to receive a reminder before access ends. On iPhone, use the installed Finmonk app.

Notifications contain no amounts or merchant details. Connecting this device replaces any previously registered device.
Turning on reminders asks for browser permission, connects this device, then saves your reminder preference. If any step fails, the status below tells you what remains.
Get upcoming bill reminders and a Sunday review. Phone reminders and their quiet hours use India Standard Time (IST). In-app quiet hours use your device’s local time. Your saved frequency limits apply.

How imports and passwords work
Uploaded files are processed on this device. Gmail attachments can be read on the server for statement review. Confirmed transaction records are saved to your Finmonk account. Passwords are session-only unless you explicitly choose encrypted reuse.
Upload any bank or credit card CSV or PDF statement. Finmonk automatically detects transactions and opens a direct preview.
Statements from email
Forward to gullakpilot@gmail.com. Files wait here for your review; nothing is added automatically. Gmail and private cloud storage receive forwarded files. Cloud copies expire after 7 days. Never email a PDF password.

Help & answersHow Finmonk works and common questions
Common questions
Answers to common questions about your cycle, spending calculations, and data privacy. What is left in your plan is a planning estimate, not cash in your bank.
Getting started
How do I set or edit my cycle and spending cap?
Cycles default to calendar months and are independent of salary or payment dates. To set a custom start date, end date and total spending cap, go to Home → Plan, bills and goals, then open Edit cycle (it is called Set your plan before your first cycle). You can edit an existing cycle’s dates or cap anytime without resetting or exporting your data. When modifying the cap, you can record a reason that is saved with a timestamp in your audit history. If you adjust dates, Finmonk previews which transactions and bills fall into the updated window before you confirm.
What capture methods are currently supported, and what are the limitations?
You can add spending and bills yourself, import bank or card statements (CSV or PDF, with a review step before anything is saved), forward statement emails, or connect Gmail. Gmail is optional and needs its own read permission; it finds supported bank alerts, statements and receipts for you to review. None of these can confirm that every payment is recorded: cash, other accounts and unsupported emails can be missing. SMS reading and direct bank connections are not supported. CSV and PDF files are read in your browser before they are saved to your account.
Does Finmonk move money or recommend investments?
No. Finmonk is strictly a budgeting and decision-support companion. It never moves money, initiates bank transfers, connects to payment gateways, or offers financial or investment advice. You remain in complete control of your money in your bank accounts.
Spending calculations
Why is “Left in your plan” different from my bank balance?
Your bank balance shows the total cash present in your account right now. “Left in your plan” is a planning estimate: it takes your overall spending cap, sets money aside for upcoming unpaid bills (rent, EMIs, utilities), and subtracts what you have already spent. It is a safe-spending guide, not a guarantee of cash in any bank account.
How do unpaid bills and credit card purchases count?
Upcoming bills due in the current cycle are set aside upfront so you don’t accidentally spend that money. When marked paid, they move from unpaid bills to spent, keeping what is left in your plan accurate without double counting. Credit card purchases reduce what is left in your plan on the day you make the purchase.
Why aren’t credit card bill repayments and transfers counted as spending?
When you pay off your credit card bill or transfer funds between your own accounts, money is simply moving between accounts. The actual spending was already deducted from what is left in your plan when the card transactions occurred. Counting repayments or internal transfers as new spending would deduct the same expense twice.
How are cash entries, refunds, and duplicate imports handled?
You can record cash transactions directly by selecting “Cash” as the payment method when adding spending. Refunds and credits offset your total spent amount or appear as credits. During CSV import, Finmonk checks transaction references, amounts, and dates to flag potential duplicates during the review step so you can exclude them before confirming.
What does the daily planning guide mean?
The daily planning guide divides what is left in your plan by the number of days left in the selected cycle. It gives you a pacing benchmark for how much you can spend each day without exceeding your cap. If you spend less today, the daily amount increases for the following days; if you spend more, it automatically recalculates downward.
Data & privacy
How are goal contributions recorded compared to actual savings?
Planned saving is expected income minus your cap. The current saving estimate uses recorded income, spending and unpaid bills; missing records can change it. Retained saving records money you confirm you moved into savings. Money left unspent in your plan and postponed purchases do not prove money was saved.
How can I export my data, delete my account, or control access?
You can download a complete JSON export of all your cycles, bills, transactions, and audit history anytime in Profile → Data & backups, or use “Backup data” to create a versioned backup you can preview and restore. The same section has “Export for spreadsheet” for formula-protected CSV files. “Delete cloud account & data” removes your login and the records linked to it, revokes connected Gmail access and deletes stored statement files. It does not remove optional usage analytics already sent to PostHog or copies in provider backups; the Privacy Policy explains this and how to request their removal. All data is strictly protected by Supabase Row Level Security (RLS) tied to your authenticated user ID; no other user can access your records. While communication uses encrypted HTTPS and authenticated tokens, no system can claim absolute security.
Troubleshooting
What should I do if data looks missing, stale, or a cloud save fails?
If a cloud save fails, Finmonk displays “Your latest changes haven’t saved. Try again” and keeps your form entries safely on screen so you can tap Retry without losing data. Technical details are kept in developer diagnostics. If records appear missing or stale, verify your network connection, refresh the browser session, or confirm you are signed into the correct account.
